             Understanding Your 2016-17 Student Score Report

This page will provide information on state and federal testing, including SBAC, CELDT, and PE

The Smarter Balanced assessments will measure real-world skills in English and math, such as analytical reading, persuasive writing, and problem solving.
Beginning in 2015, in addition to providing composite scores in those two subjects, score reports will provide information on student performance in the following areas:
  • English:  reading, writing, listening, and research
  • Math:  concepts and procedures; problem solving and modeling/data analysis, and communicating reasoning
Our annual  CELDT testing will begin in September and finish at the end of October for this school year.
The results will be sent home when the score reports are received by Heber District.  Students' progress on the
CELDT are used as a measure of our success in meeting state and federal targets for English language growth and proficiency. Those students who meet all criteria may now be in the reclassification process to be re-designated as proficient in English. Overall academic achievement and test scores are also taken into account.

Physical Education (PE) test was administered to 5th and 7th grade students in Spring 2013. The final data will allow us to compare the performance of this group of students to those in previous years. We are awaiting those score reports.

CELDT Testing
The annual CELDT testing is the first comprehensive assessment given to students at the beginning of each school year. All English learners are tested to determine either their initial score or their annual score. The results of this test determine whether or not HESD meets its Title III accountability measures. All English learners must show progress by improving their scores from the previous year. As with the CST, the targets for meeting proficiency increase each year.
Again this year Heber District is fortunate to have trained examiners administer this assessment to all K-1 students, and to students in grades 2-8 who need to complete the speaking portion of the test. This practice increases consistency in scoring across all grade levels.
